Synthetic ruby and sapphire are monocrystalline materials ( Al2O3). The sapphire is very pure ( more than 99,99% Al2O3 ). The coloration of the Ruby is obtained with an addition of a few percent of (CrO3). The crystalline structure is hexagonal rhombohedric, the density 3,99 g/cm³ and the hardness about 2500 Vickers.
